Default Doubtful about my primary profession...

As the title says, i just bought the complete collection but i don't know what would be better for me.

1) I like high survivability. Dying a lot makes me mad
2) I like more than average DPS. Low numbers makes me sad
3) I like flashy skills or just cool animations
4) I prefer a easy and straightforward class, less work for my brain.
5) I don't want to be rejected in HM or groups so i prefer to be a nice addition.
6) My goal is GWAMM

I would like to start from Prophecies so maybe the warrior or the elementalist are a good start? I don't know...

Go warrior. You won't regret it.

My ele has about 3x more deaths than my warrior. Also, eles don't do damage in Hard mode.

Why are you stressing? You have multiple character slots. Start both, play the one you like better.

Everything you say says warrior... but ultimatetly, it comes down to whatever you play long enough to become comfortable with.

Any prof can be elite if you understand the prof and know how to use the skills effectively.

Ashbringer, welcome! There is no perfect class. But of the two you mention, Warrior is the best beyond dispute. Also an ideal beginner class. Try a Warrior and I think you will find it really good.

You will level up with sword and shield, axe and shield, or hammer. But awaiting you are builds like Warrior/Dervish where you can really deal out the henry with a scythe! Or Warrior/Paragon where you get to chunk spears with great ferocity! Even Warrior/Assassin either for Daggers or certain evil Assassin tricks! All that lies far ahead, just know that Warriors do not run out of new ways for you to be both effective and have a lot of fun at the same time.

Monk is probably the best secondary to start with, for the reusable resurrection skills alone. In Nightfall not long after you get to the mainland you will have a secondary skill changer and change it to anything you want. In Prophecies, you do quests to change a secondary and it is rather farther along in the game.

Problem with Elementalist (yes I have both) is skills do not scale to hard mode well. Ritualist is also an excellent class and the Rit can later be a good farmer; as can the Warrior.

About dying ... in this game it wounds your pride mostly. You do not lose anything, costs nothing; armor does not suffer. Your character is restored instantly to normal when you go back to an outpost or town. At first you will die some. As you progress you will die less and less. One or two death penalties while on a mission or quest will wear off fairly quickly. More than that and you should figure out what is wrong and try again.

Hey, as you can basically tell, general consensus is warrior. I kinda agree, it easy, nice dps, you get accepted into most teams etc.... so basically go for warrior. HOWEVER.....

I got Gwamm on my warrior and if im being honest, I kinda wish I had gone for it on a ranger. DPS isnt as good, you arnt as accepted, high end PvE dosent suit ranger but meh, they are cool

Assassins without Critical agility are pretty squishy. Paragons are basically imba or bust in HM since the have low +damage and their skills are mostly support skills.

Rangers have a whole bunch of problems: conditions do squat in PvE which is why you see everyone running barrage. Half of their skills are spirits which rarely see use. The gimmick splinter barrage is better run on Ritualists too. They don't see much use in terms of interrupts when Mesmers got that huge PvE buff. Also, it takes skill to know when and what to interrupt since energy is the limiting factor. If you're starting out, interrupting 5 energy skill spam like Flare will make you a bad Ranger.

With a warrior, you can just pump your weapon up, draw aggro with a bow, switch to sword/axe and wail on things until they die with your adrenaline skills. Adrenaline doesn't go down unless you aren't fighting anything for ~20 seconds, it only goes up. There are 2 adrenaline denial skills (Soothing Images, Sympathetic Visage/Ancestor's Visage) but the rest of the warrior shutdowns are blind, miss % hexes, snares (cripple and hexes) which should be alleviated with a monk or midline player.

I think Necromancer is a good class for you.

I like the warrior but i'm afraid to go melee against big groups later in the game because if you did a mistake, you're dead. My first attempt a couple of days ago was a ranger but i ragedeleted him when i died stupidly one level before the survivor title so now i prefer a combination really hard to kill in PvE. My first secondary needs to be one of the basic 6 professions so monk you said? I read HERE and I didn't like the picture. You're also saying that the warrior can dish out more damage than a nuker and be a better farmer? This is hard to believe for me but i'll try.

EDIT: The necromancer is really powerful but too ugly for me

Warrior definitely is going to have survivability.

As far as going for survivor, I think it could be a bit difficult for you due to just starting the game. Not saying it's not going to be possible but mob combinations and later missions might catch you off guard if you aren't prepared for them.

My recommendation would be check the wiki on every mission and see what you are coming up against so you can be best prepared.

Basically whatever class you choose you can do fine as long as you are skillful and skills here comes from experience. Simple. So go play the game, die a few times till you learn not dying so much and by then you will know what you like playing as. If not, basically you are gonna keep dying no matter what profession you play.

Your survivor character should be your 2nd or third character. Your first time character will die, it's a given.

I tried all the professions a bit in Ascalon and i still can't decide. The warrior doesn't have cool animations or skills as far as i saw and the damage was low to medium. He doesn't have a overwhelming survivability (I get a couple of close calls) and the look is just... meh "look at me i'm the bulky Conan the barbarian!". The elementalist seems very powerful, nice outfits, nice damage and flashy skills but no one of you has suggested him so i guess he's too sucky in high end pve. I'll pass on mesmer and ranger because i can interrupt just the slowest abilities (i seriously lack coordination) and the monk because i HATE healing. The necromancer is really a lame character but i cannot stand the creepy rotten look. At the end of the day it's still Warrior vs Elementalist.

Most of your questions are more about how (well) you play, your group, and your build.

The strengths of melee characters becomes more evident when you get to level 20 and have heroes who can stack stupid amounts of physical buffs on you. Warrior damage is massive if you know what you're doing. Survivability isn't really an issue either. You're just limited for now because you don't have enough skills or heroes.

I tried the warrior but i don't like it. I prefer a ranged character because i'm too afraid to charge recklessly in front of big groups of enemies (I'm a carebear i know), anyway my W/Mo was too boring for my taste and now i want to try something with interesting mechanics, is mesmer or ritualist a good idea? The assassin seems fun but too fragile...

It depends on what is 'interesting' for you. Mesmers get interrupts and the like which doesn't appeal to me. Ritualists get unique skill types (item spell, binding ritual, and weapon spell) which I like. Play them and see. With all the campaigns you'll have tons of slots to make characters with.

PS: Assassins aren't fragile if you know what you're doing.
